Each year that my kids graduate Kindergarten I made these graduation hats: I bought little paper mache' round boxes (hobby lobby), paint them (spray paint is faster as I learned this year at 9:00 p.m. the night before the graduation-thanks Deon for helping me!), cut black craft foam into squares and hot glue on top of box, glue on a ribbon for the tassel and fill the inside with a note and candy!!
Devin received the most improved boy writer award in his 3rd grade class! He wrote an 8 page story this year with Franklin characters and the forth of July.
Daddy took off Friday so he could be at Kendalls graduation
Kendall and Andrew
Best Buds! I love that my boys share friends, but also have their own. Evan is Devin's Best friend but also gets along with Andon.  Andon has a friend Austin, but Austin gets along with Devin too...same with Cannon and Michael!
Since school ended at 11:00, we went to Chocolate Rose for Lunch-Yum! After lunch we went down the street to 3seven12 for an after school party (ended up being a middle school party)
Andon found a friend from school and played pool with him while Devin and Kendall ate sno cones
Afterwards we went to the library got some books to start reading this summer break and went to the pool with some friends.
Saturday morning Austin came over the boys played skylanders, soccer, football rode bikes and sent the next 56 hours together!! yes... 56 hours!  Austin sent the night Sat. Devin went to Evan's for a sleepover so it worked out. I went grocery shopping after drinks with Liza-
Yes... I spent my Saturday night having a drink and grocery shopping with a friend.  Yes...I feel old when I look forward to grocery shopping on a Saturday night.  Yes...I do have fun!
Sunday we relaxed at home-Devin was still at Evan's-Austin was here with Andon and Kendall had Faith over to play!
Deon took Andon and Austin on their 1st mountain bike trail just west of Horsetooth.

Austin slept over Sunday because I was carpooling Monday for scout camp!

Horsetooth Falls

Our hiking crew:Kendall, Cailyn, Cannon, Devin, Andon, Janesa, me and Baby C
The boys hiked together ahead of us girls-they played "pretend we are in a jungle and the other hikers are kangaroos".  They explored, talked and left off from the last time we saw Cannon(too long ago :(  At the Falls was a cave- I just love these boys!
The girls getting their feet wet
 Me lovin on Baby C
Me and my babies
After the hike we took advantage of our day pass at Horsetooth park and parked by the lake to eat lunch. We ate in the car because it was too windy to enjoy the playground.  My boys brought Apples to Apples and they played a game after lunch while I chatted with Janesa :)
It was SO good to get out and hike even better to be with some of our our best friends.  I thank God for all the friendships I have been blessed with, the kids and I have some wonderful groups of friends and I am so blessed to be surrounded with such good people!

My life as MOM

A couple weeks ago we had another busy Saturday morning: Our community(which is small, it's considered a bedroom community since most people live here but work else where) sponsored a 5K race.  The two elementary schools joined together to promote wellness in the schools.  One of the schools donated all the money earned to a little girl at our school with cancer. We raised over $6000 for her with the help of a silent auction. It was alot of work for our PTO board but so worth the end result.
After the race was Devin's last soccer game. The coach was so nice and got little soccer trophies for the kids even tho they lost every game.
Kendall made it the highest ever on her climb up the Werth indoor climbing wall ;)
May 24...Boy Scout graduation...Here is my cub scout den placing the new neckerchiefs on the Wolves. Devin got Austin on of his best buds, Lane got Andon.  This is a tradition for the pack as of yesterday, I have a Bear cub scout!
And...
I am a cub scout leader for the Weblos now! Devin is a Weblos now...WOW!  My Weblos got a cub scout pocket knife as a graduation gift from me since they all earned their whittling chip card/patch.
Andon (in the yellow) is placing a new neckerchief on a tiger cub scout. Andon also earned a recruiter patch for bringing his best bud Austin to scouts
These boys...These boys... 2 of them have been together since Tigers (1st grade-Devin &Evan BestBudsForever), 5 were Wolves and 7 (what I have this year) Bears.  Thinking back to when Devin was a Tiger...Weblos seemed so far away, those boys were so much older...Well I now have a Weblos. It is a happy/sad day. I am so happy for all that Devin and my cub scouts have accomplished over the past 3 years, the growth they made emotionally and physically. Sad because my "baby boy" is growing up too fast.  I have such a wonderful group of boys AND parents..I am SO lucky!  I got several Thank Yous from parents and a text from a parent that made me teary-eyed. These boys have a special bond- I will not lie-our den meetings are crazy (for me, the boys have a blast) they giggle, run around, joke with each other-it's a place where Devin feels comfortable and can be himself(to me this is Priceless-he does not have that same feeling at school. He is shy and has anxiety). For the boys, scouts is a fun place to learn about themselves, fitness, citizenship, community service, family and spiritual growth-plus more. Scouts is a place where the boys share who they are with me and the other scout...I would not trade that for anything...even when I am trying to talk and they just want to share about their experiences as a 9 year of boy-if you had or have a nine year old boy, you know what I mean :)
On a different note...I made this count down to summer chain. Kids love it and between the three of them, a link comes off everyday without me even noticing( I even used school colors ;). As of today we have 6 1/2 more days. The boys are doing scout day camp Monday-Wednesday the first week they are off. Not much else planned for the rest of the summer. Although that does not mean anything-we seem to always have our weekends filled up with unplanned activities and visitors!
My preschoolers graduated yesterday-same day as the scouts and Kendall graduates next Friday from kinder. Then all 3 are playing base ball this summer :) My craziness never ends-welcome to parenthood!

I was quite busy getting teacher appreciation gifts ready that I ran out of time to make something. Instead I found these cute mini rose bushes for 2 of the teachers and Andon picked out the apple post it note holder for his teacher.

Devin and Andon get up before Deon and I - like 45 minutes before us, they make their own breakfast, get dressed and play on their Ipods'...well this morning I had to go to a meeting at 7:00 with Devin's teachers, they were worried about me not eating breakfast, I told them I would eat oatmeal when I get back...Well I came back to a bowl of oatmeal with berries :)  I had to add more water and reheat but it was perfect! Along with my FREE latte from Chocolate Rose!!

Rain is a Good Thing

 Rainy days =
Sunshine lazy next days!
I have not posted much about Dixie, she is my walking/jogging partner-we keep each other on exercise track. Dixie is such a huge part of the family I can not even express how much I love her!

Oh Blog...I missed you

Devin designed this and started welding it for grandpa
I have been busy with PTO end of the year things, such as volunteer appreciation week. I made 120 of these cards for the volunteers to take.
Kendall with her rain boots & fresh flowers that she picks daily for her momma! She likes to "stop and smell the flowers" on her way home form the bus stop everyday.  I secertly enjoy getting those weedy flowers from her everyday ;)
I have also been busy with teacher appreciation week...I filled each cup with a thank you note, stuffed the straws and added the little flags to 60 cups. This weekend I will add a drink packet to finish off the appreciation gift. I also helped with the book fair this past week.  Looking ahead...we have a community 5k May 12 that was arranged between the two school and PTO meeting this coming week.

April 14th Kendall and I helped at the 9news health fair with girl scouts The 15th I jogged the Flying Pig 5k with team "Achin for Bacon". This was the 4th year I did this race...I just love the course, the cause, and the scenery!
What's not to love about waking up, doing a morning run, and enjoying the foothills on a crisp, cool Sunday morning!!
